Proper storage for multiple CALGAZ/GASCO calibration gas cylinders comes down to temperature control, ventilation, physical security, and regulatory compliance (OSHA/CGA standard guidelines).
Even though non-refillable CALGAZ/GASCO bottles are smaller and lighter than standard bulk industrial tanks, they are still high-pressure compressed gas vessels and must be handled with the same core safety precautions.
1. Temperature Control & Environment

Keep under 125° Fahrenheit: Never store cylinders in direct sunlight, hot vehicles, or near heat sources (radiators, electrical panels, hot water heaters). High heat causes internal pressure to rise drastically, which can trigger the internal safety relief disk to vent.

Avoid Freezing Conditions: Keep Storage above 35° Fahrenheit: Cold temperatures can cause heavy components in certain multi-gas mixtures (like hydrogen sulfide or hydrocarbons) to condense or separate out of the balance gas, throwing off your calibration concentration accuracy until brought back up to room temp.

Keep Dry: Store off wet ground and away from high-moisture/corrosive areas to protect the aluminum/steel bodies and valve threads from surface rust and valve contamination.
2. Airflow & Ventilation

Store in a Well-Ventilated Space: Never store cylinders in unventilated, sealed enclosures like tight utility closets, small cabinets, or unvented lockers.

Prevent Asphyxiation / Gas Buildup: Most calibration gases are balanced in Nitrogen. A leaking cylinder in a tiny, unvented space can silently displace oxygen or create a localized hazard.
3. Physical Security & Organization

Remove Regulators: Never store cylinders with regulators attached. Always close/remove the regulator when the bottle is not actively in service to prevent accidental valve weeping and threads binding over time.

Prevent Tip-Overs & Falls: Secure cylinders upright in dedicated wall brackets, floor racks, or multi-bottle storage trays so they cannot roll, fall off shelves, or strike each other.

Segregate Full vs. Empty: Keep depleted cylinders clearly marked and separated from fresh stock so empty bottles aren't mistakenly grabbed for field calibrations.
